Introduction

Welcome to GitHub Minesweeper! This course is a very hands-on introduction to working with Git and GitHub in a team. The goal is to prepare your Git skills for a job in a real-world team.

At this point, you might think of Git as a tool to backup and version your code. And you might see GitHub as THE place where (open source) code is hosted. **But the combination of both is much more powerful than that. Git and GitHub together are the main tools for collaboration among developers.** And thus they are an essential part of any software company.

In this course, you'll learn the basics of a commonly used Git workflow called the GitHub Flow. More on that on the next page.

> Of course, not every developer team on the planet uses GitHub. Rest assured that everything you'll learn here can be used with GitLab or BitBucket as well.
